Monitoring Programs
We take science-driven action to protect and improve the Suncoast. It all starts with monitoring for nutrients, bacteria, and other key indicators of water quality. Every week, we check 19 popular Bay sites for enterococci, and each month, we measure nitrogen and other nutrients that affect our waterways. We also run special programs to test for PFAS in drinking water and to track algal blooms along our coast. Together, this science helps us understand what’s happening beneath the surface and guides our work to protect the waters we love.
