Perico Island in Anna Maria Sound

Dear US ACOE and US EPA:

I object to the filling of the above referenced wetlands under 404 of the federal Clean Water Act because:

• housing and housing fill pads are not a water dependent use and should not be placed in high quality mangrove wetlands; 
• there are practicable alternatives to avoid or minimize impact to mangrove wetlands by reducing the number of housing units, reducing the number of lots, reducing the backyard area to reducing the area of wetlands fill and increasing wetland buffers; and the proposed house fill pads, retaining wall area and backyards are larger than needed;
• there are hundreds of other available vacant upland parcels and upland lots at other location within 1-5 miles to build houses in west Bradenton and Manatee County Florida that would not require destruction of high quality mangrove wetlands.
